Bhante Sujatha

lived in a mud house on the very steep side of a hill

He had a strong will

His dad took him swimming

Splashing with cows in the water made him very happy

He loved the Mahaweli

Bhante Sujatha

Where did he go just now?

Is he running to the temple

Or swimming with the cows?

Our fearless leader

Would let nothing stop him from being a happy young monk

He had too much spunk

He told Heenbanda

I want to live at the subhodarama temple

Or I will go mental!

Bhante Sujatha,

Where did he go just now

Is he running to the temple

Or swimming with the cows?

His parents said okay

You may go learn to teach beautiful dhamma today

Now you must make a way

Bhante Sujatha

You are our only son

But we must honor Buddha

So your destiny is won

Bhante Sujatha

Was taught by the gentlest and toughest of monks

They would not let him flunk

Our favorite chief monk

Has fully adopted his favorite sutra called My Wish

He’s our bodhisattva

Bhante Sujtatha

What will he do today?

Is he driving out to Woodstock

Or flying to Mandalay?

Our chief sangha patron

Is happy he has Michael Fronzcak as his noble friend

They make problems end

Bhante Sujatha

What is he saying now?

Is he preaching at the temple

Or chanting really loud?

Bhante and his friends

Travel the world together and spread the dhamma

They all have good kamma

Bhante Sujatha

What will he do this time

Is he going to help the babies

Or stop the spread of rabies?

Eventually Bhante

Came from Sri Lanka

To tell All the US of A

I’ve got a great way

Follow me to Buddha

And you’ll say Hallelujiah

I’ll teach you the dhamma

And help you form a sangha

Some people had big doubts

But they did not know about Bhantes big clout

The Buddha helped him out

Follow him to Buddha

And you’ll say hallelujiah

He’ll teach you the dhamma

And help you form a sangha

Bhante may be tiny

But his devotion makes him mighty

Sujatha Hondru

We want you to know of our great love for you

And without much ado

All us white Americans

Will speak just like Sri Lankans

and say happy birthday to you!

( this next part is sung to the tune of happy birthday)

Suba Upan Din-nay-yak wava

Suba Upan Din-nay-yak wava

Suba Upan Din-nay-yak wava, Bhante!

Suba Upan Din-nay-yak to YOU!!!!!!!
